Project: TV Exchage

The project’s News Exchange component allows small regional stations to share news clips and stories from around the country with one another, helping to unite largely isolated communities and enabling them to borrow solutions to common problems from one another. By connecting independent TV stations in a larger network, Internews helps these broadcasters compete against state-owned stations with deeper financial resources and guaranteed political support.

For instance, MSI-supported stations in Kyrgyzstan covered the revolution and interethnic violence that broke out in 2010 and shared their footage with partner TV stations throughout Central Asia through Internews’ FTP site. Audiences across the region were thus able to receive objective information about these events in nearly real-time.
